I have been wanting to read Liar for a while, I am glad you enjoyed it. I'd Be Pretty If... on the surface sounds like a great idea for a book too bad it wasn't as good as you thought it could have been.

Bill Bryson is terrific -- I'd never heard of African Diary. I'll keep an eye out for it. And I loved The Help. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
