I have started and put down a bunch of books this week. I read about 15 pages and realize I'm not really in the mood...
Am I in the mood for Jewish history/pogroms? I tried Puppet by Wiseman
Am I in the mood for an urban pregnant teenager? I tried Push by Sapphire
Am I in the mood for child slavery/India? I didn't even pick up The Blue Notebook by Levine
Am I in the mood for a sisterly tale? I tried Rose and Skate by Bauman
I brought home about 30 books from my school library. They all look so good, but just aren't working for me. I think I am just so tired from the last week of school. Perhaps a really good night's sleep will do it...
Am I in the mood for the Holocaust? I am going to give Milkweek by Jerry Spinelli a try...

This happened to me last week, and it is kinda hard, because I couldn't enjoy even books I might have otherwise liked. Best to give it a break and try again. Who knows, one of them might just click. Some times it's just random how some book will just bring you out of it.
It happens to me too... that's why I have so many books from the library!
I found that sometimes reading something "lighter" may help - when you don't have to think as much, and just enjoy the story and forget about it afterward (e.g. I read murder/mystery/thrillers - while I still have to kinda think, to guess who dunnit, I tend to forget 99% of the story later).
Or I just not read for a day or two.
Hope you get out of it soon?
That is frustrating I know. I go through those periods at times and just feel wrong in so many ways. You might try watching a favorite movie or reading a magazine for a bit. When it's right, you'll grab a book and it will just click. Those are the best times!
Sometimes, just having so many choices can be overwhelming. Take a short break from reading, and before too long, you'll be reading happily again. :)
Aths, Christa, Kay, and Suko--Thank you for reminding me that "this too shall pass". I read 4 books last weekend so may just have over done it. A day off and a good movie are in order!
