We have season tickets to the UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's soccer games this year (I prepped for the opening game by watching the documentary Dare to Dream about the US women's national team, which was very interesting). We couldn't attend the opening women's game on Friday, but last night we went the men's with a high school friend of mine and it was fun. Whenever the UCSB team scores the students throw tortillas on the field!
Work:
Work started up officially for me on Tuesday; we have students tomorrow. It's all the usual start of school craziness, but this year to make it all a little more wild we're changing to new email accounts and getting a new website, all in September! And, yes, yours truly is in charge of both change-overs. Actually, it should be pretty easy (says she with confidence).
My biggest change is working 4 days a week so it will be interesting to see how it feels to stay home on Wednesdays. I know I will feel like I am missing out on stuff. That's just the way my brain works.
Books and Reading:
Now that work has started the reading has slowed down tremendously! But, the exciting news is that we had a book blogger lunch in Santa Barbara yesterday! It was organized by Jill from Fizzy Thoughts and I offered my house so we could just chat and exchange books without feeling like we were invading a restaurant.
It is the first time that I have met other book bloggers and that was really fun for me: putting faces and personalities with the blogs I read! We talked about books (of course), BEA, the LA Times Book Festival (next year I go without my daughter so I can hang with the bloggers), our work, and more. After lunch they all went to "help the local economy" by book shopping at Chaucer's, our awesome independent bookstore. I couldn't go along but will be at Chaucer's on Tuesday to pick up my copies of Mockingjay!
Back Row: Florinda (The 3 R's Blog), Jill (Fizzy Thoughts), Amy (My Friend Amy), Leah (Amused By Books)
Front Row: Me with my dog Charlie, Danielle (There's A Book and Chick Lit Reviews) and her son Jase, Ti (Book Chatter)

OM Goodness - I didn't know this happened. I recall Danielle talking about a Book Blogger meet on Twitter but I didn't have a chance to ask her about it. This is awesome! Book blogger meets are so much fun!
