I think this will be one of those events that people around the world talk about: do you remember watching the rescue of the Chilean miners? It reminds me of watching the rescue of baby Jessica when she fell in the well all those years ago.
Did you or are you watching the rescue?
I have Wednesday off from work and I know I will find myself drawn to the TV to watch as the rescue progresses. The strength of the human spirit, a community coming together...it's all overwhelming and awe-inspiring.
Wednesday morning update: 12 miners are out! I've discovered that CNN has a running blog describing what is happening at the site so I was able to read about the rescue of the 9 miners that I missed while I was asleep. I love that they are telling what each miner wanted to have in the mine whiel they were trapped (crucifix, Elvis music, cigarettes, etc) and who is on the surface waiting for them. The Chilean President seems wonderful, greeting each man with a real hug that seems so genuine.
