Last Wednesday was Dr. Seuss' Birthday. Each year we celebrate the day in my library by having one of my teacher-colleagues read Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham. Phil was an actor so he does a fabulous job doing voices and making the reading lots of fun. He gets the (high school) students involved doing noises, sound effects, etc. We ended up with about 60 of us listening and participating. What a great way to spend a lunch time!

What a fun idea -- I bet the kids love it!
Dr Seuss is best when read out loud. Although his illustrations are always a lot of fun too :)
I used to work in a school library... I miss it very much. How lucky you are!
I love all the Dr. Seuss celebrations going on. My daughter's had a similar one at their school this week and it just lights them up and makes them eager readers. :)
I'm glad to see it was so well attended.
How cool! I would love to have heard his rendition!

What better place to celebrate Dr. Seuss than in a library. Fun!
How cool; I love that this get celebrated again and again.
Connolly-Ahern, Sherrie--The kids did have a great time, which is fun since they like to act as if they are cool high school students.
Trish and Sassy--you're right, Seuss out loud is great
Debbie--I'll bet you miss your job!
Karen--That's funny, my daughter didn't mention any events and she is at an elementary school!
Bermuda--I was pleased as well, 60 high school students is pretty good
Bev--You can see the video at http://www.smroyals.org/pages/San_Marcos_Senior_High/Library/Library
Diane--Phil gives a little history of the book as well before he starts, which is really fun
This is a wonderful photo! Can you believe that I've never read Dr. Seuss?
That sounds like so much fun! We always remember Dr. Seuss's birthday in our house because it's my husband's birthday too.
Aths--Okay, you need to march right down to your nearest library and read a couple Dr. Seuss books. No need to check them out since each will only take you about 5 minutes!
Alyce--Somehow I think your husband's Birthday probably trumps Dr. Seuss' :-)
