Top Ten books I HAD to buy that are still on my shelf...
This is the perfect Top Ten topic for me as I read about a book on a blog, want it so badly, go out and buy it, then it sits because I have so many other books I want to read!
This is the perfect Top Ten topic for me as I read about a book on a blog, want it so badly, go out and buy it, then it sits because I have so many other books I want to read!
- Run by Ann Patchett--I love her books so just couldn't resist
- City of Veils by Zoe Ferraris--I was in Londond, needed a book, and bought this along with one other. I read the other one
- Queen of the Underground by Gail Godwin--It's based on Cuba which I haven't read much about
- The Swallows of Kabul by Yasmina Khadra--I bought the trilogy and they stare at me every day
- Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear--I really enjoyed the first book in the series, which I read years ago so promptly went out and bought 2 more of hers that I have yet to read
- The Friday Nigh Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs--I have a few "knitting" books and haven't read a single one
- Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell--This is the only Cornwell that I haven't read. I think I just needed a break from the series
- Columbine by Dave Cullen--I've heard such good things about this, but I think I need vacation time when I can dedicate a real chunk of uninterrupted time to this one
- When Everything Changed by Gail Collins--Non-fiction. Somehow I just haven't gotten around to this one yet
- IQ: How Psychology Hijacked Intelligence by Stephen Murdoch--Ok, I didn't buy this one, it's by my brother. I am SO embarrassed that I haven't read it yet! I am not going to put this back on the shelf. I am going to keep it on my desk so that I read it in the near future!

I put a hold on Queen of the Underground by Gail Godwin because her novel Evensong is one of my favorites, ever. I hadn't heard of this one, and I see also that Godwin has an even newer one out now. Good luck in getting all these read soon!
I haven't read any of those either! But that's exciting about your brother publishing a book. You have to read it!
I would like to read Columbine as well. At least I haven't bought it yet and I waited for the paperback.

I have this problem too! I do better with library books that books at home. (To be honest, I don't think I'll like it if I've read even 40% of books on my shelves.) It feels nice to see more books I haven't read than the other way around. :)

Short Story--The guilt I've got about not reading my brother's book yet is huge!
LBC--Columbine is supposed to be so well researched and very interesting. I think it'll be a summer read for me when I am away from school
Aths--I never get public library books because i am afraid I'd check them out then never read them!
I haven't read any of those either--except the one I wrote. Haha.
I hope you find time to read Columbine when you have space in your life. I'll be curious to hear what you think. And same for you, LBC.

Dave--I really have heard good things about your book and have it on my list for the beginning of summer. Working as a high school teacher librarian makes it all the more interesting, especially since we had a 6-hour lock down last year (threat of a student with a gun). It all turned out (mostly) okay so we were lucky.
I think it's hilarious that you haven't read your brother's book yet! My husband (and one of his friends) wrote a book about building digital libraries and when I was proofing his chapters I kept falling asleep. I told him I was sure it was riveting stuff in his field....
Alyce--That's really funny! I have such guilt about my brother's book. I have now moved it off the TBR shelf to my "read them soon" shelf :-)
