I am keeping with the theme of last week's photo by choosing this photo of a tree growing on top of a wat (temple) in Siem Reap in northwestern Cambodia. I loved the few days we spent in Siem Reap, exploring the various wats, many of which are now overgrown with jungle.
That's my sister-in-law climbing on the right so it gives you a sense of the size of those tree roots!

Everyone--We saw a number of wats that had plants and trees growing out of them, it was extraordinary
I hadn't realized how big that was so I'm glad you pointed out your sister-in-law. It looks like something out of Lord of the Rings.

Anne--we weren't sure climbing was allowed, but no one was around so...
Aths--Some of these temples were built about 1000 years ago so they are pretty old. Actually, the Cambodians have hired a Japanese firm to help restore them

That's amazing.. makes me feel really tiny.
Leslie--great observation. I definitely felt "small" at these temples, kind of like I do in a huge cathedral, but these temples include nature as well
I found Cambodia fascinating - especially Ankor Wat. The trees are truly amazing!
