Saturday Snapshot--April 2, 2011

This meme is hosted by Alyce from At Home With Books

To participate in Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken. Photos can be old or new, and can be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All Alyce asks is that you don't post random photos that you find online.

This week has to be a photo from the trip my daughter and I just did. However, I realize that I posted photos each day that I reported on our spring break (Yorktown and Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Monticello)

This is a Cardinal, right? They are such beautiful birds!

Lovely "male" cardinal. Unfair that the males are the more beautiful (red)of the species.

Cardinals are indeed beautiful. We have a loyal male and female couple living in our back yard. I always love catching a glimpse of them together in the bushes.

Very beautiful capture. I especially like the contrast of colors.

I don't know much about birds, but he certainly is worth watching (even more so when I click the picture and get the bigger format where you can really see his eyes).

Diane--Yes, the bird world is full of beautiful males and boring colored females. Sigh...

Trish--How fun to have a cardinal couple in your back yard! We have blue jays and various yellow birds, but no red

Karen--I took this photo from so far away that I wasn't sure he would even show up well so I was quite pleased

Mostraum--They are amazing to see and the flash of red really grabs one's attention!

What a beautiful shot! It looks like you caught him just about to fly!

Col--This guy was definitely hopping around a lot, I am amazed that I caught him in a still moment!

Cardinals are so pretty! The first time I saw one was in Virginia. I hope you guys had a fantastic time there!

I love cardinals! You were touring the part of the country I grew up in.

Alyce--I always forget about Cardinals then see them when I am back east and love them all over again

Bermuda--Virginia is such a gorgeous state, even with no leaves on the trees!

Yes, Cardinals look so majestic. I love the red, too.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

Lovely colours, one of my favourite things to paint.

What a beautiful bird...and hopefully a sign that winter is finally on its way out.

Laurel-Rain--Majestic is a great word for this bird.

Irene--I didn't realize you paint, what a wonderful talent to have. Nature must provide you with endless subjects!

Irish--It felt as if winter was still around this past week! Rain and cold.

He's lovely! I love birds. We had a female cardinal visit us last winter/spring. We figured she was lost because we very rarely (if ever) get them here.

Marie--I love seeing birds, but usually don't much about them. This one, however, was easy to identify!

They are a beautiful bird. And so regal too! We love to sit on our patio and listen to their call from the backyard.

A very handsome cardinal! I'm still waiting for a chance get a good picture of one. The ones round here are too skittish (or I'm too slow on the trigger...).

Here's my snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/04/saturday-snapshot.html

Angie--I never heard this bird so have no idea what they sound like... now I feel like I missed out on part of it :-)

Bev--This guy was pretty skittish, but I stalked him and stayed far away (I have a great lens and cropped in on the photo)

I can only tell a crow, and a pigeon from among the small birds. So I'll accept that everyone is saying it's a cardinal. Beautiful picture though. Birds make for some awesome picture candidates!

Aths--That is really funny!
