Armchair BEA: Favorite bloggers

Thursday already, how did that happen?! Today's idea is to talk about some of our favorite bloggers and that really is such a difficult decision. I have so many blogs that I follow (close to 100) and I follow them because I like them, obviously. But, honestly, I don't post on most of them, I just lurk.
Back to my favorites. I have included the bloggers below for different reasons and anyone who isn't listed should not be hurt or sad. I just decided to pick a few. And, these are in alphabetical order.
Bonnie's Books is one of the blogs that I discovered early on and she was one of my early followers. It's funny, I think Bonnie and I are very different in some ways (age, stage of life, geography, religion), yet I really enjoy seeing what books she is reading and hearing about her family and life. She also has an adorable cat, Kiki, that we get to hear about. Now, I am super allergic to cats, but the beauty of the online world is that I can enjoy Kiki and her antics without taking any medicine!
She also has these other side blogs that are really interesting. In fact, I must remember to post to them more often! She has a Banned Books blog, a Book Around the States blog, and a Book Around the World blog. These are cool because she lets other people post to them.
My Head is Full of Books is a fairly new blog for me, but Anne and I have much in common, the biggest of which is that she is also a high school librarian. This means that she read a ton of YA books that give me ideas of what to read and that is awesome! It's nice to have another adult out there who enjoys YA as much as me. Her list of "10 books she's liked about" could have been written by me, her sense of humor makes me smile with her sarcasm.
Reading in Color is a blog where Miss Attitude (Ari) covers books by and about people of color. And, she is a high school student! I liker her insights about race, white-washing, YA literature, and more. The best things is that she walks the talk. She truly cares about these issues, writes about them and reads to back up what she is talking about. And, she is so mature!
Actually, she is doing a really cool thing right now: the C.O.L.O.R. (Coalition of Librarians and Online Readers) Project. She has adopted my school's library and posted a bit about my school, our diverse student population, and a list of PoC books we'd like. Just yesterday we received two packages containing eight books donated by her readers! Her goals is to get 25 books donated to us by July.
Reading on a Rainy Day is hosted by Aths and I feel a real connection to her even though we live on opposite sides of the country. Like me, she has lived abroad, loves WWII novels, books set in non-US settings, and more. She is doing an interesting monthly installment called Leif Reads where she and another blogger read a book focused on the environment. She and I are hosting a read-a-long starting June 1 of Gregory David Roberts' Shantaram!

Awwww! Thank you so so much!! I should say that you are one of my favorite bloggers too, and I did mean to put up a post yesterday but with my weekend escape coming up, I'm just not getting time to come online. But I'll still be putting it up.
Thank you for the shout-out. I'm old enough to be your mother and live over 1900 miles from you, but we may not be as far apart on religion as you imagine. I've been thinking about this all day and have decided to write about it at greater length than I can do here -- maybe I can say it all in a blog post, or maybe my explanation will require a whole book. I'll start with my opinion that the best way to "get to" people and change their thinking is to do it from the INSIDE, not by trying to punch holes in their beliefs from the outside, which never works. Does that give you a clue where I'm headed?
Aths--you're welcome! I do like seeing other people's favorite bloggers since I learn of awesome blogs.
Bonnie--I do get what you're saying and I almost didn't list religion as a difference between us because of how I think you are on certain issues... I feel like we're being careful and subversive!
Careful and subversive -- the nicest thing anyone has said about me in ages! Thanks!
I am, however, glad you mentioned religion. You notice I don't say a lot about specifics on my blog, and I debated with myself a long time before adding two specific words to my "intro" of myself on Monday. Maybe this will prod me to figure out how to say what I've been trying to say for years. I want to be a more vocal heretic before I die, especially since two of my three children already think I'm going to hell in a handbasket
Bonnie--ah, a subversive heretic...my kind of woman!
Your comment about "subversive heretic" was just in time to go into my latest post, here:

Bonnie--Great post! I love the conversations that take place on book blogs and the relationships that develop!
A couple I know and a couple I don't - I'll have to go visiting soon!
Alyce--I hope you find someone you like!
