I just read about World Book Night on Bonnie's Books. What a wonderful idea!
The goal is to get 50,000 people to go out in their communities on April 23, 2012 and give free paperback books to 20 strangers or reluctant readers. The paperbacks will be specially produced, not-for-sale World Book Nigh US editions and there are 30 titles from which to choose. If they accomplish their goal, that's one million free books!
You can register to be a giver (the deadline has been extended to this Monday, February 6). I just registered and hope to hear that I've been accepted. When you register, you choose 3 books you'd like to give out so I chose Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, and Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Fingers crossed that I get chosen!
