What's going on in my personal life:
I haven't done a Sunday Salon in a couple weeks, which shows how busy we've been. Yesterday was really fun as we were down in Long Beach at a dance competition. The best part for me is seeing my daughter take the notes from previous experiences and apply them so that she does better this time around. She felt really good about her performance and ended up winning her category (jazz) and coming in third for all juniors (up to age 12). What's funny is that she doesn't really care about tropes and plaques, but realized that they represent the success :-)
What's going on in my library at work:
Friday and Saturday I was at the CUE (Computer Using Educators) conference in Palm Springs. I was really excited to go because the last two years the conference has been fantastic and I've come home very energized and ready to implement the ideas at my school. This year I was a little disappointed, but I think it's because I have learned so much in the last year about iPads and incorporating technology into the curriculum, which meant that the sessions didn't offer a ton of new stuff for me. I think I need to go every other year from now on.
I am very excited that the three high schools in my district are starting to work together on technology: we're switching to the same website/learning management system, we're going to work to get all teachers iPads, and we're going to try to get iPads into the hands of all of our students as well. If you have any nuggets of information on funding for iPads or grants, I'd love to hear them!
What's going on with my reading:
I am supposed to be listening to a book for one of my book groups and was pleased that I had a lot of driving to do this weekend so I'd get in 6 hours of listening, but I am not loving the book so listened to music instead.
