My life outside books:
My reading has really slowed down. One book a week?! Crazy. I know that it is due to a number of factors including pandemic brain and the fact that my college-age daughter is home. She distracts me. We do things like watching brain-numbing TV, going for walks, etc. It's great to spend time with her (though I wish she could be at college where she should be).

Two blogs I read this week showed photos from their week/month and I really liked seeing them so I think I am going to try to pay attention and take more photos so that I have things to show here. Let's see what I've got from this past week:

My parents are birders. Normally they would be out and about birding, but during this shut down they really are being good about (mostly) staying home. They've discovered that our garden is teaming with birds right now, our (out of the image) bottle brush tree in particular so they spend time in the afternoons watching the activity. Pretty funny.

A neighbor left these on my doorstep, which is so thoughtful! Actually, the flowers lasted 2 weeks, which is pretty impressive for Gerber Daisies. Turns out local flower growers are giving away flowers since no one is out buying so my neighbor got me some. People are so thoughtful.

I am going on lots of walks around the neighborhood, but the other day my dad and I walked to the beach. We really are lucky that we have such great weather and space to socially distance walk.
We are also spending a lot of time in the afternoons sitting down in the front part of our garden, but the sun is intense so we're moving my (dark green) umbrella down there. It was a great excuse for me to buy a new (bright blue) umbrella for my little front garden. As you can see from the photo, I've styled my furniture on the colors of my Bird of Paradise. It makes me so happy.
