I got my second dose of the Shingles vaccine this week it kicked my ass. But, within 24 hours I felt totally fine again and I kept telling myself: it's better than Shingles! Next will be the flu shot later this month.
As part of my training to do a triathlon next year, I got myself back in the pool this weekend. I was a serious swimmer up to and through my freshman year in college, but I basically haven't swum since. That's a long time out of the pool! In my mind I can picture good swimming and I know how it feels to do it well, but yesterday's workout was a serious reminder that swimming uses different muscles from walking, jogging, and biking!
Friday night I attended a California Teachers' Association Awards banquet at which I received an award for my union work. They hysterical thing is that when someone was presented with their WHO Award, the audience said, "whoooo whooooo." Saturday night, as part of my duties on my high school's alumni board, I worked the high school reunion for the classes of 1982 to 1986. I graduated in 1983 so it was fun to see a bunch of people I knew and catch up.
I have started watching Professor T on PBS and am really enjoying it. It's British and about a criminology professor at Cambridge University who gets pulled in to help the police solve crimes.
I finished the Big Book Summer Challenge (reading books of more than 400 pages) and did a wrap-up post.
Here's my challenge update. The image is a link to my challenge page.
