Tuesday evening was my farewell happy hour with work people and it was so much fun! About 60 people came, there were speeches where people said some very nice things about me (always nice to be appreciated), and it was just wonderful to see people from all the various aspects of my work life come together.
Later this morning I am headed to Los Angeles to meet at friend and go to the LA County Museum of Art and this evening I have a "ladies holiday party." So, lots of driving (LA is 2 hours away), but I am looking forward to both events.
Well, I called in all week for jury duty and had to report Thursday afternoon. Luckily I got a hardship dismissal due to being an educator and the sub shortage since it is a 9-month trial. Who can give up 9 months of their life?!
We bought and decorated the live tree for my parent's part of the house (top photo) and I put up my fake tree in my part of the house (bottom photo). While I decorate (always once it's dark) I listen to Christmas carols sung at St. Martin's in the Field and the King's College Choir. All very lovely and festive.
