I had two lunches with friends this week, one of which was with former colleagues; it was so great to see them again. This group hasn't been all together for a number of years. And, packing is in full force as can be seen by one of my empty bookcases.
A friend of mine suggested that I listen to the podcast "Stuff You Missed in History Class" since I was a former history teacher. It's available on Apple and iHeart. What a great podcast, covering all sorts of interesting and random topics. This morning I listened to 2 episodes on my walk: the history of the zipper (sounds boring, right? It was super interesting, especially the part where it was banned from clothing in the US because people were afraid it's ease would lead to "loose" behavior!) and the US Supreme Court case Griswold v Connecticut from the 1960s (going against the Comstock Act, allowing birth control for married couples, etc). I highly recommend this podcast.
