Last Saturday I tagged along on a tour of my high school since this weekend I have to lead two. We do this for classes having reunions and it is reunion season! I did tours for the classes of 1960 and 1972. It's fun to hear them reminisce and what they are interested in hearing about the school today. Our school is the 3rd oldest in California (founded in 1875) and is a historical landmark so it's a beautiful school with interesting ceilings, lots of tile work, etc.
One of the members of the class of 1960 brought her daughter with her who turned out to be in my class (photo on left) and last night I went to the local symphony with friends. One of them is on the board so she got us season tickets. It was great to go out with them and to hear beautiful music.
Last Sunday I went for a walk with a long-time friends, which was wonderful (you can see it was a bit windy and I couldn't get my hair to cooperate!). I also attended the UC Santa Barbara History Department chair's reception at his house so got to spend time with the faculty and staff members. It was fun to reconnect with professors from my past and to meet interesting new faculty. I managed to schmooze some of the professors so that they want to participate in our speaker series that I organize.
On Monday I gave a workshop for a semi-local K-8 school. It's been a year and it felt good to do it, especially since it was well received. Otherwise, it's been a fairly calm week. Just working, reading, and hanging out with my daughter.
