- A Knock at Midnight: A Story of Hope, Justice, and Freedom by Brittany K. Barnett
I am back to my normal routine this week after a wonderful week in New York moving my daughter into her first apartment so she can start graduate school in January. I remember living alone for the first time; it's weird. And a bit scary.
I haven't been reading much since my daughter and I have been face timing while we watch episodes of the shows we were watching together. We finished the British Baking Show and will probably finish Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo before Thanksgiving.
Today I am going for a walk with a bunch of women I used to work with and yesterday I had lunch with a high school friend I hadn't seen in 4 years; it was great to see him and catch up on our lives. I also went to the Symphony last night. The first piece was composed by a local man and I am 90% sure he went to the high school where I taught. He has done a ton of interesting compositions in the movie/dcumentary world, but last night's piece was inspired by our local nature areas and Chumash tribe. They played video above the orchestra of dolphins, deer, squirrels, and hawks while Chumash elders did spoken word (in Chumash) in the quiet parts. It was really beautiful.
Work is insanely busy these days; I think clients want to wrap up deals and issues before the holidays hit.
How is it almost December? I need to choose my final books carefully, see if I can fulfill any more challenge requirements, begin thinking about which challenges to do next year, and drafting my end of the year posts. Whew!
I am woefully behind in reading all of your blogs and will do my best to catch up this week!
Here is is the current state of my 2022 challenges. The image is a link to my challenges page.
