Sunday Salon: April 16, 2023

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

It's been a good week with steady work to do and a wonderful morning off on Thursday. First I went to an early breakfast with the "Gun Club" (Guns as in muscles. They are the group I got to know when working out at the local YMCA). We get together every few months. Then my parents and I drove up one of the local mountains to see the wildflowers. We also got to see Lake Cachuma, which actually overflowed this winter! This lake has been so low, it was wonderful to see it full and the valley green (usually it's brown. All year long). The flowers weren't as abundant as we expected, but it was sunny and lovely. Very relaxing.

Saturday night I went to the symphony with my friends. The first piece, Beethoven's Dream was really strange (it included actors reading a dream that Beethoven had once) and I didn't get it, but the piano concerto and symphony were wonderful.

Today was the last UCSB History Associates talk of the season and it was interesting and had a good turnout.

Still feel like I'm a good reading roll! How is your reading going?

Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
