Sunday Salon: May 28, 2023

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

Last Sunday was busy! I walked with my best friend in the morning then in the afternoon, I went to the polo game (the kind with horses, not in the water) for another friend's birthday party (check out those fascinators!). In the late afternoon I drove down to San Diego for a couple days and got to see friends from my previous job, which was so much fun!

Wednesday I flew to New York to see my daughter. What a tortuous travel experience!
  • My flight to Denver was so delayed due to weather in Denver that I was going to miss my connection so I rebooked myself to fly out Thursday morning.
  • When I got home from the airport my daughter asked why I wasn't doing the red-eye from Los Angeles Wednesday night so I rebooked my flight again and booked a bus to Los Angeles.
  • TSA wouldn't let me go through security! The computer system hadn't updated so my boarding pass didn't match the flights in their system. United Airlines was great in trying to help me fix it, but I spent almost 2 hours trying to get through TSA every 20 minutes to no avail.
  • Finally the United woman suggested I walk to a different terminal to see if that worked. It did!
It felt really good to see my daughter and I am here until next Sunday. We went out to dinner, went for a walk, and hung out.

Friday morning we drove to Beacon, NY (3 hours away) and had lunch at a really yummy bakery. The second half of the drive was to Middletown, CT where we met up with my parents and my brother and his family who are over from the UK. We had a fun family dinner and time to catch up since we haven't all seen each other in about 6 months.

Saturday lunch together and an afternoon graduation party at my niece's dorm/house, which was lovely. Sunday is her graduation from Wesleyan University.

Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
