Last Sunday turned out to be a fun day: a morning walk; watching Tottenham Hotspurs (yes, they lost AGAIN); zooming with my high school girl friends (discussing The Yellow House, which I didn't read); and a symphony fundraiser event that meant I got to listen to a fantastic violinist in a small intimate setting. They played a mixture of blues, jazz, Irish, French, etc. Just amazing. And then I found out the valet driver dinged up my car. Ugh. At least their insurance will pay for it, but what a pain to deal with getting body work done on my car. I got an estimate at the local place that is authorized by Tesla and it's going to cost $7500!! Thank goodness I'm not paying for it.
This week seems to have flown by. My Monday book group meeting was great (we discussed both The Queen of Dirt Island and Normal People); Tuesday I got blood work done (yep, cholesterol and Glucose both up... got to get exercising again!); Wednesday I did a bunch of alumni board work (we're ordering really fun new merchandise like socks, t-shirts, hoodies, etc); Thursday I went to an awards ceremony for my ex-husband; Friday I had lunch with a friend; and Saturday I went down to Ventura to spend time with a long-time friend. And in between it all, work!
Today is the awards ceremony for our Alumni Association scholarships; it's always so great to give away money to students who deserve it!
Both of my book groups met this past week and we'll be reading/listening to The Great Reclamation by Rachel Heng and Rules of Civility by Amor Towles over the next month or so. Have you read either of these?
Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
