Another busy week before my holiday begins. Sunday I went to a birthday (not mine) pool party with a lovely group of people who make me laugh. Monday night a sub set of that group had the official birthday dinner at a local restaurant. As we sang Happy Birthday we looked up and Conan O'Brien had walked in and joined us in the singing! 😀
Tuesday night some of the same group plus my parents had dinner together. We have known Rachel and Tessa since we were in nursery school together, our dads were both professors at UC Santa Barbara, and we've been meaning to get the parents together for ages and it finally happened. Lot of reminiscing!
I had a phone call with a friend who is far away; that always makes me happy. My birthday present from my parents is an induction stove so Thursday my gas oven/stove was removed and the gas capped off. In the afternoon I had my round two interview with the local tech company, which felt good. Friday an electrician came over to install a 220-volt socket for the new oven/stove, which will be installed after I return in late August (it's currently sitting in my garage). And Friday night I went and saw the Barbie movie. Oh my gosh! I thought it was good: messages about feminism and there were bits were I laughed out loud. And the Ken dance scene is wonderful. Have any of you seen it? What did you think?
This photo is of the books I wanted to read in July. I obviously didn't have enough other things to do this month since I read those plus 6 others. What a good month of reading!
Here are the books I hope to read in August. I am not sure how much reading I'll get done in Zanzibar and NY, but I do have a number of long flights and my daughter hopes to get a bunch of her school work reading done while I am visiting so perhaps I'll get through them all? I also have Walking the Bowl on audio.
Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges.
