Sunday Salon: July 9, 2023

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

Oh it's good to feel healthy again. Now I just need to deal with my angst: financially I am struggling with only working part time (though LOVING working remotely part time!). Two jobs opened up in our local school district, but I just don't know if I can deal with going back there; I am so much less stressed than I was when I left there 18 months ago. I went for walks with a few teacher friends this week to talk out the possibilities with them and am also going to talk to the HR person about it. The bonuses would be: full time pay; health insurance; and time toward my teacher retirement. Those are difficult to ignore. And, let's not forget being connected back to education in a direct way, which counts for a lot. I started reading articles to refresh my brain and ideas started flowing. That's a good sign, right?

I watched the movie "Otto" a few nights ago and really liked it. My daughter watched it before I did and said, "Mama, it's your kind of movie. And, I didn't know who Tom Hanks, was, but he's a really good actor." Um. How did I raise a child who doesn't know who Tom Hanks is?!

Yesterday I spent the morning at our local farmer's market (I do this every Saturday) with a friend. I usually just do my shopping quickly, but it was a nice change to meander with another person. We then headed across the street to Recipes Bakery for breakfast. That same friend and two others came over for dinner in the evening so it was a lovely day!

Here's one of the things I love most about the book blogging community. When one of us reads a book we think a blogger friend will like, we let them know. This week I got an email from Carla of Books I Can't Shut Up About (we met as CYBILS judges, another cool thing) checking up on me post-Covid and recommending a book she had just read. She knows what I like to read. So, I immediately used my audible credit to get a copy. So fun!

Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
