How is tomorrow Christmas? Wow. I've worked all week with clients cramming in training before the end of the year. Whew! But, in between I have managed to do some fun stuff, too.
Sunday my daughter and I visited a couple friends and did a bunch of gift shopping. We're only doing stockings this year as, really, we have what we need (aren't we lucky!). My guess is that we'll all get socks and books 🤣
This week we have had torrential rain, which is so unusual for So Cal, but we need it so that's good. I sent out my holiday cards, wrapped the presents, had a take out dinner of empanadas (soooo yummy!), and convinced my daughter to begin watching Call the Midwife (it is just as good the second time through). We also discovered the street in Santa Barbara where every house is decorated to the nth degree with holiday lights, blow up figurines, etc; it was so much fun to visit and take it all in.
I am not sure what came over me this morning, but I ended up cleaning up a bunch of my garage (if I was pregnant, which I am definitely not), I'd swear I was nesting and about to give birth). I even went through my old teaching lessons and recycled all of it. That felt like a big moment; admitting that I won't be going back to education.
Our new challenge: can we get our toes to do the Star Trek greeting? So far no, but we are working on it. Yes, this is what my life has become.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and that 2024 brings love, laughter, books, and time with family and friends.
I posted both my wrap up of 2023 challenges and the 2024 challenges that I will take on. I have decided to do First Book with Sheila at Book Journey since my daughter will be gone for a few days over New Year.
Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges.
