I had another busy Sunday last weekend: an Alumni Association adhoc meeting, a Zoom with my high school girl friends, and doing my every-other-week bookkeeping job for a family friend.
The week was filled with work (though it is a bit slower in this between-the-holidays time), catching up on errands, getting things ready for my daughter's return (Tuesday!), and a funeral for a friend's mom. I guess it was officially a funeral, but it really felt like a celebration; there was laughing, story-telling, and a real sense of who the woman was. I left feeling so positive about life.
Yesterday was a wonderful day: a friend and I went to the Farmer's Market, took a beach walk, then went shopping in Ventura (30 minutes south of us). In the afternoon I went to a local author event/fair, which was really fun. I spoke to a number of new-to-me authors and brought three books. I also ran into a number of people I know (no surprise there, since I know a ton of readers).
I've started watching an Amazon Prime show called "Chuck" on the recommendation of a really good friend. It's funny the main character reminds me a bit of that friend when we were younger. It's a CIA/Spy show, but it's goofy and funny. Not the greatest show I've ever watched, but I am enjoying it.
I didn't post a stack of books to read in November since at the end of October I was in the middle of not reading much. But, I did well this month reading 12 books (1 graphic novel, 2 children's books, and the rest adult). However, for December I am posting the stack above. This will finish out my year so I felt pressured in my choices. With my daughter home, I am not sure how much reading I'll get done so we'll see how it goes.
Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges.
