My niece's visit was wonderful; it's so great to spend time with my brother's children as separate adults and not just his kids.
I have danced all my life, on and off, and from 1991 to 2000 was very into east coast swing dancing, including being in a performance troupe. When I had my daughter I gave it up and I've been thinking of going back to it so on Wednesday I took my first class in many, many years. It's beginner so super easy, but I went with a friend and my daughter and neither of them has ever taken lessons so it's a good place to start. It was super fun and felt great to be dancing again.
My daughter has finished her 6-week stay with me and flew back to Ithaca Friday. I know she isn't really looking forward to it as she hates the weather there in the winter and it really affects her mood. I am going to go for a visit next month so she's got some company. Ithaca in February, what am I thinking?!
One of my Christmas presents was a gift certificate to our local indie bookstore. Yesterday I spent a happy half hour perusing the store and chose the books above. Of course, the gift certificate covered only one of the books, but I couldn't resist the others. I chose each of these books based on recommendations from all of you so thank you!
Here is is the current state of my 2024 challenges.
