SummarySteve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He still does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar routines: the pub quiz, his favorite bench, his cat waiting for him at home. His days of adventure are over. Adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s job now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. Working in private security, every day is dangerous. She’s currently on a remote island protecting mega-bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio, until a dead body and a bag of money mean trouble in paradise. So she sends an SOS to the only person she trusts . . .

As a thrilling race around the world begins, can Amy and Steve outrun and outsmart a killer?

Review: A new series from Richard Osman? Yes please! I really enjoyed Osman's first series: the Thursday Murder Club (links to my reviews: The Thursday Murder Club, The Man Who Died TwiceThe Bullet That Missed, The Last Devil to Die).

This latest novel is more international, has more murders, and is more complex, with lots of characters all of whom could be "the bad guy." For me, the reveal was surprising and perhaps because it was a character we hadn't really met until near the end.

I do enjoy Osman's writing style: quick clever quips by all characters, funny, and fast paced. I also like his characters because they are regular people who get involved in solving murders. In this particular novel there are men, women, old people, younger people, hit men, car mechanics, and more. It's a wonderful mish-mash of people.

If you enjoyed any of the Thursday Murder Club novels, you will definitely want to read this one, too. And I cannot wait for the TV series of Thursday Murder Club!
