- Something Close to Nothing by Tom Pyun
This New Yorker cartoon spoke to me, except I tend to bring multiple heavy books when I travel. I read them, discarding/giving them to people them as I go.
It was great having my brother here for a few days! Monday night we joined my parents and their "Monday Night Dinner Group;" it was nice to see their friends, most of whom I have known since I was a small child. Tuesday and Thursday we had dinner just our family--a rare occurrence.
I took my first golf lesson this week. I have no idea if I am going to enjoy golf and I know I won't be good at it, but it's a sport that one can play into very old age, it will get me outside in nature, and I have a couple friends who play. We shall see. I feel like I learned a bunch in the first lesson and really like my teacher. I hit the ball about 40 to 50 yards. No, I am not headed for the pros, but that's not a bad start. 🤣 Do you play golf?
Best of book lists are always interesting to me. I usually haven't read most of the books (or even heard of some of them) and it makes me realize just how many books are published each year that I am missing. Too many books, not enough time! I like the NPR book list because you can search by genre, theme, and more. They include adult, YA, graphic novels, etc. I got some ideas to bring to my book groups.
I started to decorate my house last night and will finish this morning. I love putting on Christmas music (usually the St. Martins in the Field play list). Tonight I am going to a ladies Holiday Party. It's fun, we bring white elephant gifts and there is lots of laughing.
