Summary: A hopeless romantic meets a jaded radio host in this cozy, Sleepless in Seattle–inspired love story from beloved author B.K. Borison.
Aiden Valentine has a secret: he’s fallen out of love with love. And as the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline, that’s a bit of a problem. But when a young girl calls in to the station asking for dating advice for her mom, the interview goes viral, thrusting Aiden and Heartstrings into the limelight.
Lucie Stone thought she was doing just fine. She has a good job; an incredible family; and a smart, slightly devious kid. But when all of Baltimore is suddenly scrutinizing her love life—or lack thereof—she begins to question if she’s as happy as she believed. Maybe a little more romance wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Everyone wants Lucie to find her happy ending…even the handsome, temperamental man calling the shots. But when sparks start to fly behind the scenes, Lucie must make the final decision between the radio-sponsored happily ever after or the man in the headphones next to her.
Review: This was the perfect book for me to read in the midst of my far-too-busy life when I wasn't finding any time for reading.
I enjoyed the main characters, both of whom aren't sure they are ready to find that special someone, but when they meet, the flirting begins and it's obvious (at least to everyone else) that they are right for one another. The supporting cast is also good, especially Lucie's created family. I love that she has made an unconventional family with her pre-teen daughter, the father of her daughter, and his partner. They all love one another, support each other, and have each other's backs.
A radio show is a good setting for this romance. Putting two people in a small booth together alone gives them a chance to talk and feel that no one else is there (even though most of Baltimore is listening). They have folks who call in and allow Aiden and Lucie to not focus on one another while still being in very close proximity.
It felt realistic that Aiden and Lucie were interested, but not sure they wanted to admit it to the other person, or frankly, themselves, at first. And when they do admit it... BAM! Fireworks and fun.
Challenges for which this counts:
- Cover Lover--Outdated technology (rotary phone)
- Literary Escapes--Maryland
