My golf clinic this week was on putting, and I learned so much; my teacher has great drills for us. Dance was a night of East Coast swing in addition to my regular lesson. I've tested up a level for 2 dances recently.

I saw a video of a Congressional hearing the other day that got me thinking. I'll bet lawmakers have never talked about sex, sexuality, gender, and pronouns more than they are these days. The irony that this administration wants DEI and gender-based discussions halted, yet they are discussing it nonstop, is amusing.

I listened to the NY Times Daily podcast yesterday; it was an interview with Isabel Allende. It was interesting and well done. She spoke briefly about the 1973 Pinochet coup in Chile and how most people were upset but inactive when certain groups were picked up on the streets and disappeared. People didn't act until it was personal or happened to someone they knew, and then it was too late. That's how I feel it is in the US right now, and it scares me.

Last night I attended a dinner put on by the UC Santa Barbara Alumni and the History department. We were all given roles for a dinner and re-enactment of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. Re-enactments aren't really my thing, but it was actually pretty fun.
